*Faith Alone is not enough* (3)

2 Peter 1:5-6
*And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance....*

It's a beautiful day! Our third supplement of faith is temperance, this is the old word for self control. *The word "self control" is all encompassing. Self-control is the ability to regulate one's emotions, thoughts, and behavior in the face of temptations and impulses*.
An example of self control is when you want the last cookie but you use your willpower to avoid eating it because you know it isn't good for you, eating it will not fast track you towards your health goals.

Remember Judge Samson in Judges 16, how great he was in by the anointing and in power, but lost all that to lack of self control, he started falling when he couldn't control his drive for fermented things, and sex.
On the other hand Hon. Daniel purposed in His heart not to defile himself with a portion of the kings meat and the wine which he drank. (Daniel 1:8). Apart from this,  he could control himself in his schedule to factor God in.
*Self control isn't just needed in foods, sex, it's also needed in how and what we say, where we go, what we watch....what you spend time on*.
*Gehazi's lack of self control brought in the curse of leprosy to his entire lineage (2Kings 5:19-27). What shall we say then of Esau (Hebrews 12: 16) Amnon (2Sam 13:1-29), Judas  Iscariot, Diotrephes (1John3:9), who through lack of self control could not subdue kingdoms nor obtain the promise, they couldn't wrought righteousness, they couldn't maximize the benefits of the grace of God shown to them, they shut-changed and mortgage their future.

Grace,  prophecy,  hard work, connection, pedigree can take you up in business and career, marriage or ministry.... but self control will determine how long you'll last there. *To enhance your self control  do this*;

Galatians 5:16-17,24-25
*This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. ( you'll be self controlled). For the flesh have desires (appetites that are) against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that you would. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit*.

SayWithMe;
*I walk in the Spirit, therefore I'm self controlled. I do not live carelessly anymore but intentionally by the help of the Spirit of God. In Jesus name. I hereby make notable and sustainable progress in every area*
