IPU:Melaye calls for urgent rejigging in world economic policy to fast track development

Distinguished Sen. Dino Melaye, Apc Kogi West, while contributing at the on-going 137th Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU), holding at St. Petersburg, Russia emphasized the needs for stronger ties among the international communities, bilateral cooperation on economic/ political development.
Sen. Dino Melaye therefore called for urgent rejigging in world economic policy to fast track development across board. Melaye who at the Conference, brilliantly submitted by calling for New World Economic Order.
Distinguished Sen. Dino Melaye, Apc Kogi West Senatorial District, is one of the Nigerian Parliamentary Delegation led by the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Lasun.

The theme of the Interparliamentary Conference is; "Promoting Cultural Pluralism and Peace through Inter- faith and Inter-ethnic  Dialogue "

Meanwhile, the Senate President and the Nigerian Senate delegation are billed to hold an interactive session with Nigerians in Diaspora (NID-RUSSIA) at the sideline.

Some of the issues slated for consideration during the session include; the draft Resolution on the 20th Anniversary of the universal Declaration on Democracy  (by IPU Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights), the role of United Natiin
General Assembly in International Governance   (by IPU Standing Committee on United
Nations Affairs),

Also include the robust deliberation is, United Nations Climate Change Conference and a debate on engaging the Private Sector in implementing the SDGs, especially on renewable energy (by the IPU Standing Committee on Sustainable Development, Finance and Trade)

Others include Expert hearing on Peace as a vehicle for achieving sustainable development (by IPU Standing Committee on Peace and International Security.

Meanwhile, the election of a new IPU President  (Zoned to South America) to replace Mr. Chowdhury (Bangladesh) whose term expires at the end of 201st session of the Governing  Council of IPU is expected to take place.
