Kogi Speaker sympathises with Ajaokuta ASCO Bumps Market Traders

The Honourable Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Prince) Matthew Kolawole has sympathised with  traders at the popular ASCO Bump market, Ajaokuta whose shops were razed down by fire.

The Speaker who was accompanied by the Majority Leader of the House and member representing Ajaokuta State Constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Bello Balogun, the Chief Administrator of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Hon  Akaba Mustapha and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Job Creation, Hon. Oyenkehi Abdulkareem said they have come on the directive of the Executive Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to sympathize with them and assess the level of damage caused by the fire.

Rt. Hon. Kolawole said the Governor was not able to come due to his tight schedule hence he has mandated him, the Majority Leader, Chief Administrator and the Special Adviser who are sons of the soil to come and see them, praying that God will replenish all that were lose in the fire incident.

He said the current administration is concerned about the well being of its citizenry, hence they have come to see things for themselves in order to know what to do for them, promising that very shortly, the State Government will give them befitting shops at the mini market, stressing that the Kings Palace that got burnt would be more beautiful after reconstruction (Ile Oba to jo, iwa lo bukun).

Also speaking, the Majority Leader and member representing the Constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Bello who spoke in Ebira language commiserated with the people over the loss of their goods, thanking God that no life was lost in the inferno.

He said the Governor has them in his heart, hence he asked them to come and see them, promising that their shops would be reconstructed as stated by the speaker.

He enjoined them to continue to support the current administration as the leadership is working hard to reposition all sectors in the state.

Responding on behalf of the traders, Mallam Sule Ajayi thanked the State delegation led by the Honourable Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole for their show of love abandoning all their activities in Lokoja to come and see them.

According to him, no one knows the root cause of the fire, noting that it was around midnight they discovered the fire outbreak and because it was at night, they were helpless to save the situation.

He appealed to the State Government to assist them in rebuilding their shops as that is their only source of  livelihood to support their families, promising to continue to support the new direction administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

Meanwhile, properties worth millions of naira were destroyed in the fire incident.

The Speaker supported the traders with the sum of two hundred thousand naira only (#200,000)
