A fellow, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (FCIB) told the platform that agriculture is our core occupation in Okun land. He noted that it was an area in which we have comparative advantage. He further x-rayed the importance of empowerment such as reduction in poverty, quality education, good governance, reduction in crime rate/improved security, national growth, technological development, job/employment creation amongst others.

Hon. Jones believed that empowerment could come in form of smile, being positive, challenge others, encourage creativity/initiatives, participation, live outside your comfort zone to mention a few. He said, he does not believe in doling out cash and other materials when you have other channels that could make lives meaningful and impactful.

On the side of government he said, it must provide critical infrastructure and create enabling environment that will encourage investments in agric value chain.
